Our final full day in Tahoe was jam-packed from sunup to sundown! We started off by learning how to stand up paddle. Fortunately for us the lake was completely calm that morning, so we had a very easy time staying on the board and maneuvering. It turned out to be a very peaceful way to explore the lake. After our paddle board adventure we headed over to Tahoe Best Friends to pick up Ares and Fish. While they were very happy to see us, we could tell they had a great time. Our next stop was lunch at the Blue Angel Cafe. Once again we had an awesome wait staff who shared stories of their own dogs while making sure Fish and Ares had plenty of water throughout our meal.Â
We rented a patio boat at the Tahoe Keys Resort and headed out to Emerald Cove. The cove looked so beautiful from the highway a few days earlier that we just had to see what it looked like from the water. The scenery did not disappoint. Â
We then boated out toward the center of the lake, just to enjoy the breeze and the gorgeous afternoon. Iâm not sure who likes being on a boat more, us or the dogs, so we all had a great time.Â
While out enjoying the beautiful blue water, we passed the Tahoe Queen, a paddle boat cruise ship weâd seen earlier that day while stand up paddle boarding.Â
We hustled back to the hotel just in time for a sunset swim on the beach. This was probably Fish and Ares favorite part of the trip. They spent most of their time trying to tandem retrieve any sticks that we threw and pouncing on one another.Â

Dog Friendly Lake Tahoe: Day 4

Luxury Dog Friendly Hotels in the Lake District
When it comes to providing dog friendly hotels Lake District towns and villages surely must among the best in the country. There is a considerable amount of generally pet friendly accommodation not only in the National Park itself but also in the beautiful areas surrounding the Lake District. Dog friendly proprietors are not thin on the ground.
This applies not only to smaller bed and breakfast hotels and self-catering cottages but also to major hotels, and the area is not without its luxury dog friendly hotels.
Lake District hotels span the entire range from clean and tidy basic provision to the very best in discreet luxury. At the top end of the spectrum there are now hotels which allocate ground floor rooms to dog owners and make it easy to get Rover quickly to the outside world without having to walk along corridors and through the main entrance. This not only is much more convenient for pet owners but is considerate to other patrons, of whom some may be dog-averse â even among people who enjoy country holidays in the Lake District.
âPet Friendlyâ labels against hotel names on a list do, of course, only give a general indication that dogs will not be turned away. You do need to check the details to find exactly what facilities are made available. I recently included a list of things found in at least some of the best pet-friendly hotels on âHolidays in the Lake Districtâ.
See: Dog Friendly Hotels Lake District.
âLuxury hotelâ is also a term that needs defining, or at least elaborating, and Iâve done this elswhere in an article, Luxury Hotels in the Lake District.
Putting all this together means that you will find in Cumbria hotels that offer the best of service, fine dining, elegant accommodation with superb room/suite facilities, and combine this with practical proof that you can find a welcome for pets at luxury Lake District hotels.
Dog friendly accommodation of other types, such as self-catering cottages, is also available around the county. See here for more information.

Dog Friendly Ski Resort is Truly Heavenly - Lady Brags about her Visit to the Deerfield Lodge in Lake Tahoe
Deerfield Lodge: Lady with her Humans at dog-friendly Lake Tahoe Ski Resort
My cousin Lady (the yellow lab above) just sent me pictures from her vacay in Lake Tahoe! She stayed at the Deerfield Lodge at Heavenly â where she saw snow! OH â I know Iâm just a dog and Iâve gone to some cool dog-friendly places â but Iâve never seen snow⦠and it sounds amazing!
Anyway, Lady had a great time. When her humans were skiing, she was allowed full-roam of the hotel room â though she spent most of her time relaxing on a comfy blanket-covered leather couch! And a nice girl would come and take her for a walk while everyone was at the slopes! Lady says she didnât mind being left alone during the day because she knew the dog walker would visit and even call her humans on their cell phone thingies if anything super important came up.
There were also the doggie amenities! Dog treats upon check in along with a coupon to the onsite doggie boutique store! Convenient doggie poop stations! Lady also got to hang out in the lobby during happy hour â which featured wine and snacks for the humans every afternoon!
All the rooms on the ground level floor were dog friendly â which was great because Lady said her bedroom door led right into the open courtyard! Many dogs were allowed to run around offleash, but Iâm sure Lady stayed onleash â sheâs notorious for giving chase to anything that moves!
