Dog Friendly - De Vere Village Hotel Birmingham Dudley

We recently looked at the benefits of using a crate when on holiday & utilising dog friendly accommodation. As well as the multitude of self catering type accommodation that is now vastly available for dogs & their owners, we also stumbled upon the fact that De Vere Village Hotels also have dog friendly policies in most of their hotels.

As I previously mentioned, dogs & their owners get a fair bit of flack thanks to the irresponsible minority of dog owners who cause all sorts of problems for themselves & others. However, for the responsible dog owner & well behaved pooch, there’s more & more high quality accommodation being made available.

My gym membership ran out at my previous gym, & I decided to look around for an alternative. During my searching, I somehow came across the fact that the De Vere Village Hotels have a ‘dog friendly’ policy towards them staying at their hotels. I’d been considering joining the gym at our local hotel – De Vere Village Birmingham Dudley – for a while, however once I saw that they operated a ‘dog friendly’ policy, that really clinched it for me. Like I say . . . .dog mad!

As a leading chain of high quality hotels, it is absolutely fantastic that they are willing to allow well behaved owners & dogs into their hotels. If you read everything that’s published in the press, you’d think hoteliers & managers of places would be steering well clear of ‘dog friendly’ policies. However, they really are the minority & why shouldn’t people be able to enjoy a stay in a nice, comfortable hotel just because they have their dog in tow.

It’s another reason for people to ensure that they bring up a well rounded, sociable & socially acceptable dog. By having a dog that is well behaved, you certainly wouldn’t feel out of place at a hotel like the De Vere Village Birmingham Dudley. If on the other hand you had a dog which barked at everyone, couldn’t walk on a lead & wouldn’t settle down – you certainly would feel out of place there.

It’s not just about having a dog that can sit, stay, retrieve etc or a show bred dog that looks pretty & beautiful. When you’re planning a day out, wouldn’t it be great to make an overnight stay of it – rather than having to rush back home “because of the dog”. Like I say, a crate is an invaluable piece of dog equipment – almost as important as a lead & collar.

Providing your dog is well behaved, quiet & settled, he nor you (& nor should the hotelier!), ever get stressed or worried about him being tucked up safely in a lovely hotel room. Having spent a nice long day out, your dog would probably be glad of a couple of hours of ‘alone time’, safely & comfortably snoozing in his crate, whislt you can go off & enjoy your surroundings.

As I mentioned, our local hotel is the De Vere Hotel Birmingham Dudley, & the very reason I joined the gym there was down to their ‘dog friendly’ approach. However on top of that, the hotel is a really great hotel too – location & facility wise.

If you’re looking for a place to stay that is handy enough for Birmingham, but also offers a super choice of other great attractions you won’t go wrong with De Vere Hotel Birmingham Dudley. There’s also some great countryside around to take your faithful friend on some lovely walks.

If you’re bringing your children, why not check out the Famous Black Country Living Museum or Dudley Zoo during your stay? There’s a whole host of amenities within easy reach of the hotel.

The De Vere Village Hotel Birmingham Dudley really has excellent facilities, I’ll regularly spend a few hours at the Hotel when I go to the gym. There’s even a Starbucks Coffee shop on site, along with the ‘Victory Pub’. I’m not sure my cheeky beer after a gym session is actually in the fitness textbooks, but non the less it’s a great little environment.

If you fancy something more refined they also house The Verve Grill, which is a stylish restaurant without the pretence, which most importantly, serves some really great food!!

Most of all, the leisure facilities are fantastic. A superb gym with swimming pool, sauna, steam room & whirlpool, but if you’re looking for a bit of relaxation & rest they also have their own Spa. I’ve loved rejoining the gym here – the facilites are some of the best around.
